Lakewood Estate Home - Dallas

Situated on a prominent corner estate lot in Lakewood, this residence was envisioned as a timeless garden home that feels open, established, and entirely appropriate to one of Dallas' most treasured historic neighborhoods. While distinctly new in its architecture, every landscape decision was made to ensure the property would mature gracefully and blend seamlessly with the character found throughout the nearby Lakewood Conservation District.

Original Landscape Concepts developed the landscape from concept through completion, creating a framework that balances generous open space with carefully organized garden rooms. The result is an estate landscape that feels expansive and welcoming while remaining refined, understated, and enduring.

Traditional brick courtyard walls establish a sense of arrival and create intimate outdoor spaces before opening to broad lawns of premium Zeon Zoysia. The fine-bladed turf reinforces the estate character while providing a lush, elegant appearance throughout the year.

Carefully selected specimen trees frame important architectural views, soften the scale of the residence, and establish a park-like canopy intended to become more distinguished with time. Structured Macro Baby Boxwood hedges organize circulation, define outdoor rooms, and provide year-round architectural rhythm.

The existing shell of the swimming pool was reimagined with oversized natural stone coping, giving the water feature the quiet presence of a historic estate pool rather than a contemporary addition. Adjacent gathering spaces were planned for entertaining on both intimate and neighborhood scales, with generous lawns and terraces encouraging family activities, community events, and seasonal celebrations.

An authentic bocce court finished with crushed oyster shell introduces a classic recreational element that reflects the timeless character of traditional estate gardens. A separate thin-bladed synthetic turf play lawn provides a durable, dog-friendly surface for recreation while maintaining the clean visual simplicity of the overall design.

Material selections were intentionally restrained and authentic, allowing brick, natural stone, finely textured turf, mature trees, and evergreen structure to define the landscape. The result is an estate garden that appears as though it has always belonged in Lakewood—respecting the architectural traditions of the neighborhood while offering modern functionality for today's family living.
