Outdoor Living Spaces
Designed extensions of the home, not patio furniture and a grill on a slab.
Outdoor living's the part of your property where your family'll spend the most time once the design's finished. We figure out how you'll actually use the space across all seasons and weather patterns. We learn your entertaining habits. Then we're designing the architecture, materials, and shelter to match your life, not the other way around.
What we design
Outdoor kitchens. A 36-inch grill plus sink and drawers covers most cases really well. Full summer kitchens with a pizza oven and kegerator work for some families who're serious about outdoor entertaining.
Covered pavilions and porches. Proper structure with beam and truss roofs. Integrated with the home's existing architecture. Screening on the windward side. Ceiling fans calibrated for Dallas summer heat and humidity.
Fire features. Pits, fire bowls, fire tables, and architectural fireplaces. We size them to match your space and entertaining style.
Pergolas. Cedar, cypress, or steel depending on the look you're going for. Sized to your space and the climbing plants you want them to carry over time.
Dining and lounge zones. Hardscape, furniture-friendly grading, and lighting for evening entertaining and use.
Why it matters
An outdoor kitchen twenty feet from the indoor kitchen gets used twice a season, tops. A pavilion sized correctly for the patio reads well with the house. A fire feature placed downwind from seating actually gets used. We design placement, size, materials, and mechanicals in the master plan. Everything integrates with your actual habits, not some fantasy version.
Materials we specify
Texas limestone, Arkansas fieldstone, Lueders, travertine, bluestone. Brick fireplaces with cast or stone caps. Cedar and cypress for shade structures. Steel for modern hardscape. Outdoor kitchens in stainless steel and stone. Radiant overhead infrared heating for dry cold spells. Natural gas and electric heaters available. Oscillating fans and shade strategies for August heat.
Texas climate reality
You're dealing with 100-degree summers and 30-degree mornings. Shade matters most in summer months. Ceiling-fan throw, seating orientation, and roof overhang depth determine August comfort. Heaters and rooflines determine whether November through February gets used. We design for both extremes of the year.
Frequently Asked Questions
Build an outdoor kitchen without existing gas and water?
Absolutely. We run new lines for gas, water, drainage, and electrical wherever they're needed.
Most common scope issue?
Clients under-spec lighting and over-spec open patios. Pavilions get used twice as many days a year in Texas heat.
Handle pavilion permitting?
Yes. We handle footing calculations, structural drawings, and city permits throughout the process.
How does maintenance work?
Stainless steel and stone are essentially maintenance-free. Wood needs refinishing every 3 to 5 years depending on weather.
