Lakewood Landscape Architect

Designing for Lakewood's mix of historic Tudor and contemporary architecture, near White Rock Lake.

Lakewood is one of Dallas's most architecturally interesting neighborhoods. A dense mix of 1920s and 1930s Tudor and English Cotswold homes. Midcentury ranches. Contemporary new builds and major renovations. We've done significant work across the neighborhood, from Lakewood Country Club's surroundings to smaller streets near Lakewood Elementary to the eastern side toward White Rock Lake.

What's specific to Lakewood

Architectural diversity. A landscape that works on a Tudor on Tokalon doesn't work on a contemporary on Lakehurst. The neighborhood doesn't have a single style. It has a strong commitment to good architecture. The landscape has to match. We design property by property. Not by neighborhood template.

Lot size and topography. Lakewood lots vary more than most Dallas neighborhoods. Quarter-acre interior lots up to one-plus-acre estates near the lake. Some streets have meaningful slope toward White Rock. Topography is part of the design challenge.

Mature canopy. Lakewood's tree canopy is among the most established in Dallas, particularly in older streets. Tree protection during construction is a consistent design constraint.

White Rock Lake adjacency. Properties closer to the lake have meaningful watershed and drainage considerations. We design with the lake's runoff requirements in mind.

Permitting. Standard City of Dallas residential permitting. No formal architectural review at the neighborhood level. But several streets have informal aesthetic standards that come up in conversation.

Selected Lakewood work

Historical Tudor Lakewood. Garden and hardscape restoration on a 1930s Tudor. Period-correct without becoming a museum.

Lakewood Soft Modern Pavilion & Pool. Modern pool and pavilion on a contemporary property. Outdoor living extends the home's open floor plan.

Modern Traditional Lakewood Home. Landscape that bridged traditional front yard and contemporary back yard. Planting palettes tuned to each side.

Transitional Modern Front Yard Lakewood. Front-yard redesign emphasizing curb appeal and architectural integration.

Transitional Modern Pool Lakewood. Pool and surround on transitional architecture.

Typical project scope

Lakewood projects most often combine pool design, hardscape, and significant garden work. Renovations of dated pools and gardens are nearly as common as new builds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Period-correct landscape for a 1930s Tudor?

Yes. Materials, plantings, forms the architecture recognizes. Modern family life too. We thread this needle.

Pools on smaller interior lots?

Yes. Smaller pools, plunge pools, spa-only installations work well. Make it feel inevitable, not crammed.

Drainage on sloped lots?

Yes. Slope management at design phase. No construction surprises.

Different front and back styles?

Two related design languages. Formal at front, relaxed at back. We've done this successfully.
