Prosper Landscape Architect

Windsong Ranch and the acreage estates. Two different towns, two different design conversations.

Prosper is two things at once: a fast-growing master-planned suburb anchored by communities like Windsong Ranch, and a semi-rural Collin County town where acreage custom estates have been going up for decades. We work across both. The design approach, the permit process, and the planting vocabulary are different between them, and confusing one for the other shows up in the finished product.

Windsong Ranch has its own amenity standards and architectural review process. The submission packages those committees require are detailed. We've been through enough of them to show up prepared rather than guessing at what reviewers need.

Acreage sites in Prosper need a different conversation than a half-acre HOA lot. You're thinking about entry sequence. Motor court. Where the pool and outdoor living zone sit in relation to the house and the property lines. How the transition from maintained landscape to the natural edge looks and functions. Drainage across a large parcel during a Texas rain event. These aren't afterthoughts.

The homes here lean toward formal traditional or Hill Country-influenced character: stone elevations, detailed millwork. Hardscape and planting that complements natural masonry and softens heavy facades works. We're picking materials and plant palettes that make the exterior feel like a continuation of the architecture, not a separate project bolted onto it.

At the scale Prosper lots operate at, native and adaptive species perform best long-term. Live oaks, cedar elms, native grasses, adapted shrubs. They hold up through North Texas heat and drought without intensive maintenance, which matters when you're planting across two or three acres.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you handle Windsong Ranch's HOA review process?

Yes. Full submission package, correspondence through approval. We build the review timeline into the project schedule from the start.

Do you design for acreage properties?

Yes. Entry sequences, motor courts, larger drainage systems, the transition between maintained and naturalistic areas. Acreage design is a different discipline than a suburban lot.

What planting works on large Prosper parcels?

Native and adaptive species. Live oaks, cedar elms, native grasses, adapted shrubs. They perform in clay soil through North Texas heat without needing intensive ongoing care.
