Preston Hollow

Landscape design, pool design, and outdoor living in Preston Hollow.

Preston Hollow is one of the neighborhoods where we have our deepest portfolio, built up over the last two decades on properties spread across 75230 from north of Walnut Hill to west of the Tollway. Lots in this neighborhood run anywhere from half-acre infill sites to multi-acre estates carrying mature canopies older than the houses sitting beneath them. Three things shape almost every project we take on here: trees, architecture, and the homeowner's expectation that the finished property reads as considered as the home it sits behind. Your result should look like it belongs.

What's specific to Preston Hollow

Many Preston Hollow lots carry significant heritage trees: live oak, post oak, magnolia, pecan. Working with these trees is the first design decision on most projects. We protect critical root zones during construction, uplight the canopy after dark, and choose plant palettes that complement what's already there rather than compete with it. Wholesale tree removal is almost always wrong.

Lots vary widely. Streets like Hollow Way, Park Lane, Strait Lane, and Lakeside Drive carry properties with very different width-to-depth ratios. A pool that works on a wide-shallow lot doesn't work on a deep-narrow one. We design to the geometry of the actual lot, not a stock plan.

Preston Hollow has nearly every residential style represented: Georgian, Mediterranean, French eclectic, Tudor, modern Hill Country, and contemporary. The landscape has to read correctly with the architecture in front of it. We don't have a Preston Hollow style. We have a process that adapts to whatever the house is doing.

Heavy black gumbo clay covers most of the neighborhood. That single fact shapes hardscape base detailing, drainage planning, foundation distance from new plantings, and irrigation calibration on every project. We spec for it from day one.

Standard Dallas residential permitting applies across most streets. No HOA architectural review on most of the neighborhood, and tree ordinance compliance for protected trees over a defined caliper. A few small subdivisions inside Preston Hollow carry additional review processes that we handle in the design phase.
