Landscape Lighting

Lighting that doubles the hours the landscape gets used.

Most outdoor lighting doesn't work. You'll see three uplights at the front, path lights scattered along the walk, and floods aimed at the back fence. Every cul-de-sac in Dallas has the same uninspired setup. We're different. We use fewer fixtures, place them with intention, keep brightness low, and hide the light sources so they're never visible from where you're sitting.

What we design

Architectural lighting. Uplighting the brick or stone facade creates dimension. Downlighting from the soffit fills the entry with soft illumination. We hide fixtures in mature trees, which cast beautiful moonlight patterns across your patio.

Tree and specimen lighting. Uplighting old oak trees. Downlighting from the canopy. Silhouette lighting that makes specimen plants stand out against the sky.

Water feature lighting. We submerge fixtures in the pool, add rim lighting on fountains, and direct light at falling water so it glows at night.

Path and step lighting. The lowest lumen output that's safe to walk by. Never bright enough to read a book.

Hardscape lighting. Built into the walls, recessed in the steps, or mounted as ceiling fixtures under your pavilions.

Accent lighting. Garden focal points, sculpture, and signature plants that deserve attention after dark.

Specification details that matter

All fixtures we install run on 12V LED power. Color temperature's critical. We specify 2700K for a warm, residential feel, or 3000K for crisper architectural accents. Never cool blue-white, which reads commercial and cold. Beam spread is matched to throw distance so light lands where you want it. Fixtures get buried or hidden in canopy so the source stays invisible. Wiring's sized properly for voltage drop, we install multiple zones for control, and we use commercial-grade transformers instead of big-box kits.

Manufacturer-grade fixtures from FX Luminaire and Vista last 15+ years. Big-box fixtures fail in three to five years. That difference shows up in the first wet season.

Why it matters

A properly lit outdoor space gets used roughly twice as many hours per year. Your porch from October through March. The pool deck on summer evenings. Your entry every single night you come home. Lighting carries one of the highest returns per dollar of design attention.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you add lighting to an existing landscape without tearing it up?

Yes. Most of our lighting work is retrofit on existing landscapes that we didn't originally design, and the install runs about two weeks of careful trenching, fixture placement, and zoned wiring without disturbing a single mature plant in your beds.

How does the lighting actually get controlled?

Astronomical timers handle most homes well. The system can tie into your existing smart-home automation if you've got one. Multiple zones let you light the front separately from the back, and a late scene drops the back to ambient after a certain hour each night, which is what most families want once the kids are in bed.

How long do the LED fixtures actually last?

Fifteen years. Professional-grade fixtures rate at about fifty thousand hours of nightly use before they need any attention from anyone. We don't install the cheaper big-box kits because they fail in three to five years on a luxury property where every fixture you replace is a hassle.

Will the lighting trespass onto our neighbors' property?

Not if the design is right from the start, with beam spreads chosen carefully, fixtures placed with intention, and shielding where lots sit close together keeping the light pattern squarely on your property. Matters most in tight neighborhoods. Highland Park and University Park are the obvious examples, where lots back right up to each other.
